At Truss Developments, we recently completed a pitched roof dormer loft conversion in West Bridgford. This project focused on adding extra floor space, more natural light, and a practical layout to what had previously been an underused attic area. We approached every stage with care, making sure that the finished result would be both comfortable and visually pleasing.
For this project, we constructed pitched roof dormers on the side and rear sections of the property. By doing this, we were able to increase the headroom and floor space considerably.
The rear dormer included a floor-to-ceiling window, meaning that the new loft area is now flooded with natural light, resulting in a brighter, more welcoming environment. While building the dormers, we made sure to blend them seamlessly with the existing roofline, guaranteeing that the overall look of the property remained consistent.
Inside the loft, we introduced built-in furniture designed to work perfectly within the pitched ceilings. These units include wardrobes and storage compartments that fit neatly into the angled roof space.
This solution provides practical storage whilst preventing clutter. The king size bed’s low headboard allows it to sit right up against the lower wall, meaning the floor space can be used efficiently.
Without doors on the stairs or the ensuite, the loft embraces an open plan feel. This design works nicely, as strategically placed purpose-built walls keep the bathroom area subtly tucked away, making sure it feels private yet still part of the overall space.
One of the challenges was fitting the bathroom under the pitched roof without making it feel cramped. By choosing a layout that worked harmoniously with the angles of the ceiling, we created a bathroom that feels light and spacious.
There is sufficient headroom where it counts, resulting in a surprisingly roomy and pleasant space to relax in. The combination of natural light from the dormer window and carefully selected materials helps create a bright atmosphere.
An important finishing touch was the handmade stair balustrade. We crafted this to match the home’s existing style, meaning the transition from the main house to the new loft conversion feels natural.
Every detail, from the joinery work to the paint finishes, was carried out thoughtfully. This service provides a seamless integration whilst maintaining the character of the original property.
Upon completing this pitched roof dormer loft conversion in West Bridgford, we delivered a space that the client can genuinely enjoy. Our team worked meticulously to produce a loft that is both functional and inviting, respecting the original property.
